The documentary Age of Audio includes interviews with influential voices from across comedy, podcasting, and pop culture, including Marc Maron, Ira Glass, Fred Armisen, and Kevin Smith, further underscoring the breadth and cultural reach of this year’s program.
The short films are presented across a dynamic slate of programs curated by form, genre, community, and theme. Audiences can explore blocks dedicated to Animation and Documentary, genre-focused programs such as Comedy, Science Fiction, and Thriller/Horror, and detail-driven showcases including Student Shorts and Support Local, highlighting filmmakers from Chicago, Milwaukee, and the communities in between.
The festival’s thematic programming remains a defining feature of the shorts lineup. Highlights include Is This Therapy?, OMG! WTF!, and four installments of the festival’s Identities series, with programs centered on Asian-American, Jewish American, and African-American experiences, including two programs, one narrative, one documentary, under the banner The Souls of Black Folk. Together, these curated blocks explore mental health, cultural inheritance, faith, belonging, and identity through a wide range of cinematic styles and perspectives.
