As Cinequest Film Festival’s Director of Programming, Michael manages the film selection process for the festival and supervises the programming teams to create a world-class line-up of films and guests every year. In his role as the Associate Director, he is directly involved with the strategic planning of the festival.
Michael’s passion to discover new talent and help artists connect with audiences through the art of cinema inspires his work at Cinequest. He has been instrumental in jump-starting the careers of many successful artists. He has programmed thousands of World, North American and United States premieres and helped make Cinequest a launching pad for many successful careers.
Marcus Gorman is a Seattle-based film programmer and award-winning playwright. While his main gig is programming independent American cinema and genre fare for the Seattle International Film Festival, he has also worked for the Seattle Queer Film Festival, the Cleveland International Film Festival, the North Bend Film Festival, OUTstream, Outfest, Make Believe Seattle, and the Grand Illusion Cinema.
His original plays and one-acts have been produced in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, Ashland, Pittsburgh, and the Wisconsin Northwoods. He is a company member at Seattle’s Annex Theatre and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
He currently covers the arts for The Ticketat The Seattle Times, has been published in Howlround, The Dramatist, CityArts, The Evergrey,and New American Theatre Magazine, and his voice and writing can be found on such podcasts as Film at Fifty, Eggs & Space, the SIFFcast, and The Ugly Radio. www.marcusgorman.com
Tracey L. Adlai is a native Angeleno who earned a BFA in Film & TV Production from the Tisch
School of the Arts at New York University.
She is the Founder/Director of The Valley Film
Festival (VFF), the inaugural and longest-standing film festival in LA’s San Fernando Valley, now in its 25th year, which promotes both local and global voices.
She has held the position of Chair for the Tisch West Alumni Council and served on the Board of Governors for the Valley Economic Alliance, as well as the Los Angeles Mayor’s Citywide Film Task Force. As a champion for creative individuals globally, Tracey dedicates her time to assisting underrepresented creative professionals.
